local ranger station.

heart of the "gold rush " country, you should try your hand at
gold panning or take a drive through historic Weaverville. this
picturesque town invites sightseers to view the past with such
points of interest as spiral staircases, Victorian houses, the
Jack Jackson Museum and the Joss house, the oldest operating
Chinese temple in California.
Then as you continue touring
Trinity Lake, you will find secluded coves and beaches, ideally
suited for an afternoon of sunbathing or a family style picnic.

WILDERNESS WATERWAYS Similar to Shasta lake, just 50 miles
to the west, Trinity lake is a water sports wonderland!
Trinity lake, one of
California's largest lakes, has an elevation of 2,300 feet and a
145 mile shoreline. During the summer months, the air temperature
is in the 80- to 90 range , while the water temperature can get up
into the 80's.
Due to the expanse of the open
water, the pleasant weather and surroundings, Trinity lake is
beginning to entice water sports enthusiasts from throughout the
United States. Houseboaters enjoy this beautiful, yet uncrowded
mountain lake. Water skiers thrive on skimming over mile after
mile of deep blue water.
But perhaps fishermen prize this
lake most highly because Trinity lake holds the record for the
largest small-mouth bass ever caught in California. Trinity Lake
is considered by many to offer the best fishing in the West.
Besides bass (both large and small mouth) there are also abundant
amounts of catfish, kokanee, rainbow and brown trout. In addition,
nearby Lewiston lake (only five minutes from the marina) is
excellent for rainbow, brown and brook trout. For the fly
fisherman the various streams and small lakes throughout the area
provide for exceptional fly fishing.
